Yesterday I turned 27 - the age I will be when I give birth if all goes according to plan. It was a fairly uneventful day which is hilarious seeing as I was counting down back in September. It came and went with barely a blip on the party radar. Which was fine with me.
The night before I had come home from work exhausted. I'm talking feet-dragging, face-sagging, sheer exhaustion. It was brutal. Since Nate had an exam, grocery shopping & a hair cut to take care of, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to take a nap. An hour late I woke up to feelings of grossness. I wanted to die. I thought maybe water would help since it's so amazingly good at everything else. As I sat in my favorite chair enjoying the refreshing H2O I realize that I needed at that instant to RUN, not walk to the nearest and only bathroom as fast as humanly possible. I spend the next half hour puking and crying over my misfortune. I called Nate - no answer. I called my mom - she said she would be right there. Meanwhile Nate called back and said he'd be home in 5. I was so scared to leave the bathroom. It was rock bottom. Then I had two wonderful people literally FUSSING over me.
Man, I love being pregnant.

Momma's sick!
Yes, it's true...I have a very bad cold. I went to the doctor yesterday and he said the only thing I could take for now is Robitusin DM. I keep waking up in the middle of the night coughing like crazy. Nate's been good - making me my honey and lemon water. I made it this morning, but it just wasn't the same.
So as of yesterday I was 8 weeks...4 weeks until the end of this first trimester!!
And what's with so many people thinking we're having twins? I've had about 10 people say that so far. Maybe, maybe not. I wouldn't mind, but I think Nate wants to take 'baby steps'. Haha.

So I am a Dad.... well at least one to be
it is a little hard for me to believe that in a few more short months I will witness the birth of a part of me. It is really a gift beyond words. Hmmm so shortly after my 29th birthday I will resign the title of 'boy' that I have been so vigoroursly holding onto and gladfully accept the postition of dad.... hmm i am blessed....
in the words of a 7 year old... "being in mom's stomach was kinda scarry... it was not nice"
maybe that is a result of the nausa that ensues with pregnancy..... who knows....

yay babies!!!.... or baby...
Hmmm..... I'm excited. I've never been an aunt (or auntie for that matter) and I'm going to figure out what it's like in about half a year. Boy or Girl? I say Boy, but who knows? Baby,Baby,Baby... YAY! I have nothing else to say... Love, auntie Nina

Uncle Philip & Font Leroy
Today my little brother Philip is turning 16 in Mexico - he's there for a missions trip. He's really excited about the prospect of being an uncle - it's really cute.
Yesterday I told all the peeps here at the church I work with that I was pregnant. I got some hugs and cheering. It was great. Pastor Steve kept asking me how big the baby was - and I had found out that at 7 weeks, the baby is about the size of a capital "O". He's still really really tiny. but by the time 8 weeks rolls around he will have doubled in size to about a small grape.
So Steve and Sam were talking and Sam was calling my baby "12 point O" and Steve decided he like Font Leroy as a name. Weird. Is it better than Murray or Willis Nipple? I don't think so.
I've been quite sick these past three days. I really wanted to call in sick today, but I think I should save my sick days for when I'm vomiting.

Candied Ginger
Don't tell the Maple Ridge Save-On Foods by 203rd, but Nate had to steal a few pieces of candied ginger for me. He read in a book that candied ginger really helps with feelings of nausea. So he found like three different kinds and wanted to pick the best. So he tried one and it burned his mouth pretty bad, then another one wasn't quite right - so he bought the third kind which was ok. It does seem to help which is sooo great. Everyone once in a while I think people at the church wonders what in the world I'm chewing on at random times in the day.

Due Date
By the way, my due date is Halloween. Hopefully my costume won't be one of a pregnant lady by then anymore.
It's Positive!
So almost two weeks ago now I took a pregnancy test. It was so exciting and freakin' scary looking at the two lines intercrossing when usually there is only just one lonely solitary line. I right away ran into the living room where nervous Nate was sitting and waiting for the news. I immediately burst into tears (which has been happening alot) and told him we were going to have a baby.
He was excited, but too nervous to be exuberant so I took another test two days later. Then a week ago I had to pee in the morning and save it in the fridge (ew) so the doctor could test it too. He said in a very calm matter that yes, indeed I was preggers.
So now Nate felt he could be really excited.
We told both sets of parents after the first test - My mom took a minute to understand that I was holding a positive pregnancy test in my hand and she was going to be a grandma. My dad gets a little more excited each time I see him...He wants me to be looking into mat leave.
Nate's folks live in Dryden Ontario and are sooo excited they should be here around the end of October for the big day. Nate's sister Noelene couldn't get much more words in besides "WOW". And Greg wasn't going to be able to sleep all night after he heard. He kept telling me to hurry up.
So it's really cool.
And my siblings - I did this fun video thing for them. Nina was screaming before it was even over. Then everybody seemed to be crying and excited.
I haven't been too sick yet, just some evenings I feel totally exhausted and I have found myself next to the toilet a couple times, but no upchuck (sorry!) yet. I'm trying not to gain too much weight, but to gain enough that I do have a healthy baby.
