Jericho generally wakes up twice per night. Usually around 2 and 5 am. I'm not finding it too hard, but the one thing that weirds me out is that every single night I have a dream just before he starts really crying where he's already in bed with me and I'm feeding him or cuddling him. At first it really creeped me out because I swear I could feel the blanket moving and I seriously believed as I was slowly waking that Jericho was in bed with me. We never bring him to bed. I never feed him in bed. But Nate sometimes finds himself trying to convince me that yes, my son is in the crib waiting for me to feed him and he's not my blanket. It's strange that it happens every night, but it's good because I'm getting less hysterical about it. At first I would sob in confusion, but now I just state the obvious to help myself get over it. Strange? I think so.

Believe it or not, I had the same thing except that C was falling out of bed and I always woke up almost diving off the bed to get "C"...she too never slept in our bed. I think it's all maturnal extinks (how on earth do you spell that) reaction. I hope that they go away for you.
That's your connection with your baby! I bet, in your sleep, you can hear him snuffling and that's what happens. I think it's neat - but then, I'm not the one experiencing it.
Deanna (who had her babes sleep with her in bed and fed them in bed, and sometimes latched them on in the wee hours and went back to sleep to get that one more hour before it was time to get J off to school! But then, my babies woke up more than 2x a night!!!)
I had similar dreams just not to the magnitude that you have been. Must be scary...
R. slept in our bed quite a bit and it was a very hard habit to break. I would never feed him in bed though for fear of chrushing him. He would wake up several times during the night though - as you will soon find out routines change as often as diapers in newborns ;).
N. has never and to this day will not sleep in our bed. Due to health issues she was always in her crib with it elevated and a breathing monitor. Sometimes I wish she would just lie beside me to get some rest but she refuses - it's her crib or the highway!
I nurse #3 in bed. I never did with #1 but everything with him was way easier. Now, it's a way to ensure we both get sleep as I can snooze while feeding him. I am always aware he is there and even have one arm crooked around him. I fed #2 like this sometimes as it took me a while to get the hang of it. Once I learned it gave me more sleep it was awesome. Like Deanna it makes it easier to get back to sleep so you can get up and get the older one off to school.
I used to wake up a split second before both of my babies would wake to nurse. It's the mother baby connection I was told and I always thought that was so amazing. We researched and practiced the family bed with both of ours and I have to say it was incredible for us. The connection and bond was amazing and being able to nurse without having to climb out of bed was incredible. And both of ours moved out of the bed on their own with no problems, dispelling the myth that kids who sleep with you never leave. It was especially beneicial when my second was born as #1 was 19 months and TROUBLE :-) (trouble in a good way - perhaps ACTIVE and CURIOUS are better terms).
