What is it with Mondays? You already feel beat up about the weekend being over!! Jericho just wouldn't listen today. I can tell he's learning about the whole sharing thing, but he can be downright mean to Malachi and I'm really starting to get tired of it. Hopefully he gets over this little phase soon and moves on to something else. I know he's likely going to cause all sorts of little issues, but right now this is what I'm sad about. I don't really want to think of all the trouble down the road, because that's not really going to help now.
A separate issue: at what age do you let your kid sleep through the night with only underwear on? Jericho drinks A LOT so I know for at least the first few weeks I'll be changing sheets constantly and I don't want to push him before he's ready and have frustration everywhere. He does awesome with #1 and stays dry when we go out 90% of the time. I will only put a pull-up on when we go to church because I would feel bad if he wet the carpet there, and I'm not the one watching him there. What do you guys think? He's almost 28 months...
I'm going to try and go to bed early tonight.. 6:30 am comes too early!

I think you should just pick a date and do it. Prepare him and see how he does. Does he wake up with a wet diaper? I wouldnt recomend trying it and then going back. GoodLuck!!
Every night he's soaked. I know what you think I should do : )
I just want to do it when he's ready and not before.
It's not an age thing. It's a when he's consistently dry through the night thing. Oddly, though #3 is having issues with potty training (not yesterday, one pair of undies all day! woohoo!) he has been dry at night for almost the last few weeks, with one or two exceptions.
Last night he wanted to wear his undies to bed. He did and he was still dry this morning.
That's the key. He had been dry already before the undies. Jericho is still quite young, Sara. You are doing so well with the potty training thing. Night time dryness, for boys especially, can take longer.
I think that if he is not sometimes dry through the night, then you might want to wait.
I did use a Dry Sleeper with my kids when they seemed ready (my girl was dry through the night at 3... but the boys were another story). The Dry Sleeper is a little alarm box with a cord that clamps onto the underwear and it goes off as soon as it gets wet. The idea is that you turn on the lights and get them up and take them to the bathroom right a way... it worked with my middle 2 in less than 2 weeks, but they were older.
I also set up the bed for a quick change... waterproof pad layered with polar fleece blanket on top so that I don't have to change all the bedding.
I don't know, I'm 31 and I still don't wear underwear to bed
(am I supposed to?)
Thanks everyone!
I think what I'll do is continue to not let him have milk before bed, only a small glass of water and see if his wet diapers decrease. He is usually SOAKED.
It really is true that you need to watch for cues from your own child and simply because something has worked for someone else doesn't necessary mean it will work for you. I don't want to go back and forth and just confuse him. He knows underwear is for awake time and cloth diapers for naps and bed.
Tahnee, I have no words. : )
